Roster verification (RV), previously called teacher student claiming (TSC), is scheduled to begin April 7, 2022, for all TN schools administering state assessments.
Teacher value-added data are used for several diagnostic and evaluative purposes, including teacher evaluations. The RV process plays a crucial role in ensuring that there is accurate data for calculating teacher value-added reports and evaluation composites. Shortly before the launch of fall and spring state testing, teachers use the RV process to claim students they taught during the school year. Once teachers have completed and approved their rosters, the rosters are used in calculating teacher value-added scores (TVAAS).
The schedule for 2021 – 2022 RV is:
- Preview Phase: 04/07/2022 – 04/19/2022
- Teacher Verification Phase: 04/20/2022 – 05/10/2022
- School Verification Phase: 05/11/2022 – 05/24/2022
- District Verification Phase: 05/25/2022 – 06/14/2022
The first steps for RV will be the Preview Phase (4/7/22 to 4/19/22). During this phase each school’s testing coordinators objectives include:
- Make sure the appropriate teachers have access to RV
- Make sure each teacher has the appropriate rosters
- Mark appropriate students as ineligible
State legislation requires each teacher complete his or her own TSC.
