November Discipline Scenario

Scenario: You receive a vape notice. Upon your arrival to the restroom, you find Alex Carter putting a vape in their pocket. Further investigation uncovers the vape is a THC vape. Alex does not have an IEP, 504, or suspected disability. Alex is expelled on 11/1. You share information about the AGE program, and Alex enrolls on 11/4.
Error Email Messages:
These students are supposed to be currently expelled or remanded and yet show current enrollment at your school.
Student 111111 has a current expulsion assigned through incident # 111111 and yet has an alternate school, AGE, or BASE schedule. Please update the incident’s actions to reflect the change of placement.
OR
There is no withdrawal for this student or a withdrawal has been entered with a date of date which does not match the expulsion start date. Please have a withdrawal entered with the withdrawal date matching the date that the expulsion starts.
Suspension dates will count towards the explusion duration.
Answer:
The student will be expelled (and withdrawn) as of the date of the incident. Once the student enrolls in AGE, admin will reopen the incident in AdminPlus, change the action from Expulsion to Change of Placement (Transferred to an Alternative School), update the start date on the incident to the start date at AGE (the end date will remain the same), and resync to PowerSchool. We recommend making notes as to why the incident was updated. (For example: Incident and start date updated for enrollment in AGE.)
The Registrars will reenroll the student as of the date the student enrolled in AGE, add the 04 withdraw code to the exit entry, and schedule the student with AGE teachers.
